Mary and I have been married since 1975, we have two daughters and four grandchildren. We are active members of our church, where we have been involved in children's and youth work among other things. We have lived in Huish Episcopi, close to Eli's pub, since 2005. We see our future in this beautiful part of the country and really feel part of the community. Being here a relatively short time, I feel I can relate to new folk moving into the area as well as life long residents.
My career with BT culminated as Customer Service Senior Manager for top finance companies, insurance companies and banks. Throughout my career I was an active trade union member. I believe unfairness, victimisation, discrimination and bullying have no place in employment or life. I found working amicably with, and latterly as, management, very rewarding. I retired in June 2012
I was governor at our daughters school, chairing dispute meetings with staff, pupils and parents among other things.. I would like to offer my experience, dedication and knowledge to help make Huish Episcopi a better place for all, as best I can.
I set up and lead the Community Speed Watch here, I have an understanding of local flooding, planning and traffic concerns, especially HGV. I have been part of Abattoir liaison meetings. I worked with Langport Town Council trying to resolve concerns about The Hill and especially the Hanging Chapel conservation areas.
Specific responsibilities: Community Speed Watch, Speed Indication Device team member.
