Allotment Review Winter/ Spring 2019/2020

imagebyrobAllotment review Winter/ Spring 2019/2020

Everyone had a productive year with most of the allotments occupied and we were pleased to welcome some new allotment holders. Most of the allotments have been well maintained and kept tidy.
We undertook some general maintenance of fencing etc. but this as you can imagine is an ongoing issue. The trees by the water were trimmed and tidied and I know this has let in more light to the lower allotments which I am sure the residents are very pleased about.
There was some flooding at the end of the year and sadly a couple of plots were flooded but these appear to have dried out nicely now. The track did get very muddy and churned up which could be helped in the future by less people parking on the grass.
The spring there has been lots of work being undertaken with everyone keeping their distance as advised – but these are very different times for us all.
Everyone has started planting on their plots and in their poly tunnels and seem to arrive daily with more and more items that have been brought on at home.
Water pumping has started ready for the growing season. The pumping rota is up ready for everyone to add their names to and thank you to everyone who has already volunteered.
I hope everyone has a happy and successful growing season.
If there are any issues please contact either Lisa the Parish Clerk or myself, Rob Crumb.
