Friends of Langport Surgery was formed three years ago and we are now seeking volunteers.
We are now members of the National Association of Patient Participation Groups and we have the following aims:
- To be a voice for patients and provide the means for patients to make positive suggestions about the provision of Health Care in the Surgery and to comment on any plans in the making at the Surgery and pass them on to the health and administrative professionals.
- To provide the opportunity for patients to discuss suggestions on improvements to services.
- To provide the means and to encourage Health Education activities within the Practice.
- To provide help in setting up projects such as patient transport, help for carers and fund raising.
Over the last year members of the Friends of Langport Surgery committee have:
- Raised funds by means of Spring time raffles to promote a health promotion evening for Men's Health, which is always well attended
- Taken part in an International Rotary project that sorts out unused medication, with at least 18 months shelf life, to forward on to developing countries.
- Helped at the annual Flu Clinics.
We are now aiming to start some community projects. For this we need a small team of volunteers. Anyone interested in helping in this way and would like to find out more please phone the Chairman, Pauline Saunders - 01458 272769
