Kayleigh Dyer lives in Eastover. Kayleigh is 17, attended Huish Academy and now attends Bridgwater College where she is studying for Health and Social Care.
She volunteers weekly at the Langport and Huish Episcopi Youth club, as well as helping on trips and at weekends on youth projects.
During the summer she attended two camping trips with the club as a volunteer and she worked extremely well with the young people who attended. At the club she can now help with an activity, serve in the tuck shop, help with the money and signing in at each session. She is very good with the members and their needs.
She is also a member of New Saints, the youth led project involving All Saints' Church, helping to raise awareness of the church. In this she has attended the local schools delivering a session on making up a church model, helping produce a new leaflet aimed at families visiting the area, she was involved in organising 3 exhibitions at the church in the summer.
She has volunteered at Wilder Woods in Drayton working with disabled groups of children. Recently she helped on the Halloween walk and spent the evening dressed up as a scary creature - I suspect this was rather fun!
She is willing, she never fails to attend when she has arranged to do something and she is going to be a brilliant member of our community for the future.

young volunteer yearKayleigh response:
It was really nice to win an award for "Young Volunteer of the Year". I was so surprised when they called my name out! It is especially nice for Langport and Huish Youth Club because I used to go as a member and now I am a qualified volunteer (I have just completed my Level 2 in youth work which I did through the club) and have been volunteering for 3 years! Even though I know my hard work is recognised and appreciated within the youth club, it is also nice to be recognised elsewhere!
