Residents of the Village of Huish Episcopi - A Questionnaire from Somerset Council. Please spread news of this as widely as possible

Do you disagree or agree with the proposal that Huish Episcopi Parish Council and Langport Town Council should join together to form one Parish Council? It has been confirmed that such a combination would not be a Town Council.

It goes without saying that some research should be undertaken and local enquiries be made prior to commencing this questionnaire, such as:

  • How do the performances of each Council consistently compare over the years?
  • What might be the financial implications, and the disadvantages and advantages, for the residents of Huish Episcopi?
  • Would both Councils be better served by retaining their individual status and responsibility for their separate finances, while increasing the existing level of cooperation?
  • Should Somerset Council hold a Public Meeting to be certain of resident’s views regarding a possible merger?

The Boundary of Huish Episcopi Village encompasses far greater area than is generally realised and the shared postcode (to suit the Royal Mail) tends to confuse many into thinking that they live in Langport when in fact they live in Huish Episcopi.
